What We Do

What We Do

There is no gift greater than seeing a wild creature return to its path in nature.

Our name says it best:  Creature Safe Place.  We are a safe haven for a variety of  wildlife.  Whether they stay for just a short time or the rest of their lives, we provide the food, shelter and care necessary for their physical and emotional health.  We believe that wild animals are meant to roam free, and our ultimate goal is always to see them fly, hop, crawl or walk back into the wild.

Every animal that passes through our gates is treated with compassion and respect.  They are not put on display, and we are not open to the public.   From bottle-feeding infants to rehabilitating injuries, our focus is on providing the care they need. As a member of  the Florida Wildlife Rehabilitators’ Association, we work with other licensed rehabilitators sharing  knowledge and techniques that give each of these animals the best chance of survival.  Despite our efforts, some animals are not able to be returned to the wild.  We will become their permanent home.  Although life in a sanctuary is not ideal, we try to mimic their natural environment as best we can.  For social animals, we try to find an established group for them to join.  Appropriate enrichment is provided to stimulate their natural behaviors and keep them as wild as possible.

Although wildlife is our primary focus, Creature Safe Place is also home to a variety of exotic and domestic animals.  Parrots, kinkajous, ferrets, goats and donkeys have all found sanctuary here.  We do not offer animals for adoption.  Any animal we accept into our facility remains here for its lifetime and receives the care necessary for its physical and emotional well-being.
